Juan Cavadas was born in Buenos Aires, on the 13th January 1954.

1973/74 He attended to the workshop of the sculptor Alfredo Garzón. He travels to Brazil.

1975 He travelled to USA, and visited Houston and New Orleans. He also travelled through Latin America, visiting Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú and Bolivia.

1977 He is accepted as a pupil by the painter Guillermo Roux, with whom he continues studying until 1983. He paints his first series of Still Life” and studies on the naked.

1978/79 He attended the workshop of the sculptor Carlos de la Mota.

1980 He travelled through Europe. En Rome, he works in the workshop of the engraver Piero Cesarone, where he made several “acuafortes”. He visits New York.

1980/82 He paints the series “Flower market” and “Hoitsu’s tree”.

1983 He settles down in San Carlos de Bariloche, some 18kms from the city.

1983/86 He paints the series of watercolours “African cloths” and pastels too: "Big naked”. He draws the series  “Little still lives”. He made exhibitions in Municipal and Provincial Salons. He gets 2nd place in the First Municipal Salon of San Carlos de Bariloche.

1987 He starts the series of watercolours and charcoal “Branches and clouds”.

1990 First Individual exhibition. Gallery Van Riel, in Buenos Aires. (21 watercolours and 2 drawings of the series “Branches and clouds”).

In Buenos Aires, he met the critic Raúl Santana who wrote the presentation in the catalogue of the mentioned exhibition. He met the poet Federico Gorbea.

1991 He makes his first painted and mounted papers: “Open Doors” and “The Jar” 1992 He starts carving wood sculpture.

1993 He paints the series of water-colours, tempers and collage “Homage to Federico Gorbea” , the argentine poet living in Spain. The Museum of Modern Art, invites him to make a personal exhibition in its premises.

1994 He makes the mentioned exhibition, and shows there his sculptures in wood and the “Homage to Federico Gorbea”. The critics Rafael Squirru and Raúl Santana, write about his work.

1995 He takes part in the collective exhibition “7”, organized by the Museum of the Patagonia and shows his work “Iconoclast”. He starts the series “Polemic Homage to Malevich”, Oils on canvas mounted on paper, and the series of collage : “Crosses”

1996 He takes part and co-organizes the collective exhibition “Presence-Absence” in the Museum of the Patagonia. He gets a Special Mention in the Andrani Foundation Prize. He also makes a personal exhibition in the Museum of the Patagonia. The “Der Brucke” Gallery in Buenos Aires, exhibits some of this “Crosses” .

1997 He paints the series of monochrome water colours “Big Maitenes”. He also makes a further series of “Crosses” and the “First Christian Meditation” .

1998 One of his works is selected to participate in the “VII Biennale of Sacred Art” in the National Culture Rooms, in Buenos Aires. He paints the “Second Christian Meditation”.

1999 He won the first prize on the Andreani Foundation. From the South III with his work “Animal offspring”. The Luisa Pedrouzo Gallery, exhibits seven works from the series “Crosses”.

2000 Six of his works are exhibited in the “Art in the San Martín Palace”. That was an collective exhibition in the Chancellery Palace in Buenos Aires. He also participates in the exhibition “Self portraits” in the E. Frey Room, in the Municipality of Bariloche.
